Game Review:

tiki 1

Listen up Islander! There is news that the Terrible Tikihead Tribe is forming an army to take over areas of the Rainforest. All elves not away on GoodQuests should do their duty to impede this invasion. To begin this operation, look for the rotating coin beneath the door in the Rainforest.

The enemy’s plan of attack is to form walls using their wooden tiki bodies. Once the walls reach the top of the Rainforest, it’s over!

tiki 2

Our advantage over the enemy is that they aren’t that strong. Just tap two identical tiki heads with your mouse and they’ll crumble to pieces. In fact, the more identical tiki heads you put together, the easier they are to stop. The farther you go in this game, the faster the Terrible Tikis will build their walls. You’ll have to use a little military strategy to bring them down. Don’t click the walls all willy nilly just ‘cause you see two matching tikis together. Look for a pattern.

There are power-ups scattered among the enemy to help you along the way. They really come in handy when the going gets tough. However, don’t let them throw you off your strategy.

tiki 3

Alright, elves. You have your orders. FORWARD MARCH!

Game Review: Snowflake Flipout!

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

snowflake

You never know what you’ll find hidden in the caves of the Ice Mountain. Maybe a new creature, like a snowflake critter. Possibly an Ice Giant with a squishy head. But certainly! With no question! If you speak above a gentle, teeny, tiny, inside voice whisper, you will find yourself in the middle of an avalanche!

So quickly… quietly… help the snowflake critters escape the ice cavern before it caves in! Use the Ice Giant’s squishy head as a trampoline to bounce the snowflake critters to safety. Just click on the cave in the lower right of the Ice Lounge to rescue the snowflake critters.

At first you may find yourself juggling multiple snowflakes before things spiral out of control. The trick is to keep a steady hand and a keen eye for where the snowflake critter is going, not where they are.

Also, after a few tries you’ll be able to judge each type of snowflake critters’ flip. Some will flip really high, but fall faster than a cartoon anvil. Others will do the exact opposite. Sound confusing? Just a bit. But before you know it you’ll be flipping out snowflakes like flapjacks.

This week we are having a Hi-Score Challenge for all Snowflake Flipout players. The Top Ten unique Hi-Scoring players will win a limited edition Arcade Machine! The contest ends Tuesday, August 4 at 11:59 pm eastern.

Game Review & Hi-Score Challenge: Fruit Works

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Fruit Works

All the island fruit is packed in the Rainforest and shipped to other places. Unfortunately, someone didn’t show up for duty this morning.

We need someone to fill in on the circular assembly line. Are you willing to help?

It takes at least 3 of the same island fruits to make a package.

Think before you shoot. Wait for a couple of pieces of fruit to come down the assembly line before you match the piece you have in your hand. Sometimes the assembly line will set the pieces up for you to score points.

Try to form a pattern with the fruits. You may not have a match right away, but you can place fruit in different places on the assembly line. That way, when you do have a match, you can win big.

Ok. We’ve got fruit to pack. Get to playin’.

This week we are having a Hi-Score Challenge for all Fruit Works players. The Top Ten Hi-Scoring players will win a limited edition Arcade Machine! The contest ends Tuesday, July 28.

Game Review: Slim Pickins’ Hi – Score Challenge

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Slim Pickens

Wanted:   A Farm Hand with a keen mind and a knack for puzzles.

Job Description:

Sift through a puzzle board of island fruit, picking only the fruit that hasn’t been spoiled by the catermite!

After you pick a fruit, a number will appear to give you clues as to how many rotten island fruits are surrounding it.

You must be able to judge the board in all directions: Left, right, up, down, and especially diagonally.

This game is about looking for potential, judging all the possibilities, and being able to make a rational guess based on the numeric clues.

And you only get one chance.

Elves interested in becoming Farm Hands should head over to the Windmill located in the Meadow and get to work.

This week we are having a Hi-Score Challenge for all Farm Hands. Players who are on the leader board for Slim Pickins’ by the end of the day, Tuesday, July 21, will win a limited edition Arcade Machine!

Good luck!

Game Review: Creature Seeker

Creature Seeker

Greetings, elves! Welcome to the Game Review! This week we are taking a look at Creature Seeker, Elf Island’s first multiplayer game.

The object of Creature Seeker is to flip tiles featuring Elf Island Animals to find matches. You will have to use some brain power to remember which animal is behind which tile.

You can work together with friends to clear the tiles, or compete to see who can get the most matches. You can even play alone to sharpen your memory skills.

Please comment and tells us how you feel about Creature Seeker. We’d also like to learn what other games you’d like to see on Elf Island. Elf Island is always looking for feedback from elves to help us develop new features.
