Ponder-and-Prattle

Greetings, elves! Welcome to Ponder & Prattle. Here we answer questions and discuss new features of Elf Island.

EmilyAwesome asks, “In a GoodQuest, if I get the amount to qualify for the QuestKey, will I get a QuestKey or do I have to do something else to qualify for it?”

In order to qualify for a QuestKey members have to meet whatever the minimum goal is for that GoodQuest.  For example, members must save 30 bears to qualify for the Polar Bear GoodQuest key, but in order to get the QuestKey the overall goal has to be met.   For example, elves have to work together to protect 60,000 Polar Bears to get the current Quest key.

MagicalWinds asks, “I just was on the Woods and saw some shiny and dark eyes inside a log. What creature lives on there?”

A Sea Dragon lives in the log, but he is very shy.  So, he chooses to just peek out at Good Elves as they come by.  Here is a rare look at him flying!

Sea Dragon

katark asks, “Does donating to the Scale of Good or does donating items to another player count to win the Good Egg Award?”

Yes, donating to the Scale of Good and gifting items to other player’s counts towards the Good Egg Award.  So, keep donating and gifting to your buddies on the island.

mistygolden asks, “Where did the peaches and roses go?”

The peaches were sold out, but may be restocked in the future.  The roses were for sold in the store for Valentine’s Day.

Goose asks, “With all the new Elves coming to the Island, could you remind everyone why we have rules and also why Hosts cannot have them on their Buddy List. Thanks!

We have rules on Elf Island in order to keep all elves safe and happy.  Our team of Moderators do their best to make sure every elf is having fun.  Host and Mods do not add buddies to because we cannot add all elves. They are friends with everyone on the island.

ComputerWiz asks, “Can you please explain the payout on Creature Feature?”

Creature Seeker is much more fun with lots of competitors. Elves should note that it’s tougher to find the first few matches and that finding more difficult matches is often rewarded.”

Ponder-and-Prattle

Greetings, elves! Welcome to Ponder & Prattle. Here we answer questions and discuss new features of Elf Island.

Mistygolden asks, “I saw a planet. Where can I get a planet.”

Planets were available in the stores during Space Month. We are sorry if you missed it. If you really want a planet, maybe you can find a kind elf to trade with, or maybe someone will be Good and gift it to you!

Mistygolden also asks, “Can non-members participate in decorating contests?”

Yes, non-members may participate in decorating contests.  We want all elves to participate in the decorating contest.

Tinkonice  asks, “Are we allowed to enter more than one submission in the caption contests?

Sure! Enter as many captions as you like. Just be sure to submit your captions to tide@elfisland.com, and include your elf name so you may be rewarded with a prize. Any captions received through the “M” button are also accepted.

MagicalWinds asks, “Will there be new sections of the Tide someday?”

The Tide, the official blog of Elf Island, is always changing to please and to entertain and delight our faithful readers! You will see new sections pop-up from time to time. We welcome any suggestions you may have about new sections.

Moeshapeach asks, “How can I get the invisibility bug? I want to be invisible!”

Currently Invisibility isn’t a player feature of Elf Island. You may see Rob, a member of our Staff, as an invisible elf, but that’s because he does a lot of secret elf duties that require him to use camouflage.

We hope that you weren’t led astray by your fellow elves.

Katie_d asks, “Non-members can play the GoodQuest, but they do not get the QuestKey or Prizes. Do the bears they save count towards the Quest Goal?

Elf Island wants our whole community, members and non-members, to be able to do real Good! Your hard work doing Good to help protect polar bears does count towards the Quest Goal.

GOT QUESTIONS???

If you have a question, please submit it using the “M” button on the top navigation bar. Select “Something Else” as the message type. In the elf name line, enter “Ponder & Prattle,” and then type your question.

If your question is selected, you will receive a special prize. Prizes are awarded within a few days of posting the article.

Ponder and Prattle

Greetings, elves! Welcome to Ponder & Prattle. Here we answer questions elves have about the island, and explain different features. Here are this week’s questions:

Water asks, “What is the badge manager? Is it for members only?”

panda badgeThe Badge Manager is a new feature of your wardrobe. Now you can choose which badge you want to wear around the island. This is not a member’s only feature; however, you must first earn a badge before you can use the Badge Manager.

Badges may currently be earned through buying an Elf Island membership, or by being one of the top players in a GoodQuest. Players who earned badges in past GoodQuests were given their previous badges to wear.

Expect more information about badges and how to earn them next week!

EmilyAwesome asks, “Some people have won some really cool prizes in the Polar Bear GoodQuest. How many polar bears do I need to save to earn these prizes?”

polar bear game 2Great question, although we really focus on the efforts elves can make collectively. They key is to play, have fun and keep in mind that you are Gaming for Good and helping our REAL polar bear Elfie in the Arctic.

You can earn special prizes by actively participating as a  member of Elf  Island. To learn more about membership and the special features you can enjoy, please visit our membership page at https://registration.elfisland.com/upgrade/.

Mistygolden asks, “What time does Elf Island close?”

Elf Island’s hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 10:00 am – 1:00 am EDT, and Saturday – Sunday 8:00 am – 1:00 am EDT .

Pink_Tulip asks, “ In the Polar Bear GoodQuest, if we don’t waste our roars do we get a credit on the bear meter? Or is it based on getting rid of all the CO2 before the meter fills up? I think it would be cool to credit us for the amount of the CO2 meter that is empty.”

Great idea! In the Polar Bear GoodQuest, the goal is to destroy all the CO2 clouds with your roar before the CO2 meter fills up. You have an unlimited amount of roars to use to destroy the CO2 clouds. The Bear Meter in the top right corner is a timer showing how much time you have left in that round of the game.

Ophira asks, “How do you send a picture you’ve drawn to Elf Island? Through email or something?”

To send a drawing to Elf Island, email us at tide@elfisland.com. We’d love to see your drawing.

Water asks, “How do I win the Cozy Crib Award?”

Winning the Cozy Crib Award is easy! Just bring your GOOD in game and invite other elves to see your home. Be a good host and you’re sure to be recognized!

Ponder and PrattleGreetings, elves! Welcome to Ponder & Prattle. Here we answer questions elves have about Elf Island.

Miraj  asks“When will we get our daily credits?”

Miraj, if you are referring to your Daily Allowance on Elf Island, this feature is already available. Visit the Scale of Good in the Savanna to collect your Daily Allowance.  Here, you will have the choice of collecting your allowance, or donating it to a Good cause.

Anna_Belle asks, “Will GoodQuests be a new game each time?”

Each GoodQuest represents a non-profit’s mission, which is turned into a game. Some GoodQuests will represent the same mission but with a few new twists and turns to the game. This way, new players have a chance to play the various GoodQuest games and players can revisit non-profit missions they really enjoyed helping.

Lefelia asks“If you click the “ignore” button on someone, you can still see their messages in the ChatLog. Will this change?”

Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. We believe this problem has recently been corrected, but if you continue to experience it, please report it to the M button in Elf Island.

Ophira asks“I just did an Elf Island Adventure and became a Sprightly Nomad Will there be more Adventures that will award a new ranking?

New Adventures will be available on Elf Island soon. Some will increase your rank, while others will just be for fun and prizes!

Mistygolden asks, “How do I become a member?”

To become a member of Elf Island  and gain exclusive  access to even more clothing, prizes and other special features, visit: https://registration.elfisland.com/upgrade/

Ponder and Prattle

Greetings, elves! Welcome to Ponder & Prattle. Here we answer questions elves have about Elf Island.

Magicalwinds asks, “Will there be more than 10 GoodQuests?”

Though you are challenged to earn 10 QuestKeys, there will be more than 10 GoodQuests.

Lixi asks, “Is Zeta pronounced ‘Zeeta’ or ‘Zata’?”

The word, or in this case name, Zeta is pronounced “zey-tuh”, or ‘Say Ta!” except with a Z.

EmilyAwesome asks, “Hosts say you can only get one prize from them per shift. How long is a Host’s shift?”

Usually our Hosts work from 5-9:00 pm eastern,  Monday through Friday, and  1-5:00 pm  & 5:30-9:30 pm on Sat and Sun. Multiple Host Games are held each day and we occasionally add additional host shifts.

Magicalwinds asks, “If I got a QuestKey from the first Polar Bear GoodQuest, will I still get a QuestKey from the new one?”

If you already have a QuestKey from the first Polar Bear GoodQuest, you will still be able to earn a QuestKey in the new Polar Bear GoodQuest. QuestKeys are not tied to a certain type of GoodQuest.

Water asks, “How can we take a picture?”If you would like to take a picture or screen capture of Elf Island, please use the following instructions.

If you have a PC.

(1) Hit the “Print  Screen” (or ‘PrtSc’ button) button. It is usually found at the upper right portion of the keyboard, or near the delete and scroll lock buttons.

This action takes a picture of the whole screen and puts it in the Windows clipboard for later use.

If your Print Screen button is in blue, you will need to use the Function (FN) key too.

(2) To view your image, you will need to use a graphics program like MS Windows Paint, or Adobe Photoshop.

Open the program and press the Ctrl and V buttons together. It will paste the image into the program.

(3) You probably will only need to cut up or “crop” your screenshot.  Follow the instructions on cropping for the program you are using.

(4) After you have done this, click the File menu and choose “Save As…” to save your image as a jpeg or bitmap to send to Elf Island to show all your friends!

If you have a Mac (Apple Computer).

(1) Press COMMAND, SHIFT, and the 4 buttons all at the same time.

(2) A crosshair will pop up where your cursor was. Hold down the left mouse button and select the area you would like a screen shot of.  Release the button, and the screen shot will be saved to your desktop.

(3) Click the screen shot on your desktop to open it in Preview. You may also open the file in another program if you wish.

(4) After your screen shot is opened Preview, click File, and choose “Save As…” to save it as a jpeg or bitmap to send in to Elf Island!

Hope this helps!

Ponder and Prattle

Greetings, elves! Welcome to Ponder & Prattle. Here we answer questions elves have about Elf Island.

Tigger asks, “Can you make our inventory invisible to other players like the EI Staff?”

Currently we cannot make your inventory invisible to other players, Tigger. However, we will take this idea into consideration. Thanks for you input.

Hellopop asks, “Is telling someone your hair color considered giving out personal information? I mean, it’s just your hair color, right?”

Elf Island does not advocate the sharing of any personal information among players, not matter how big or small.  Our goal is to keep players safe in a fun online environment. It is safer for everyone not to share any personal information with anyone online.

MyAwesome asks, “If I have a 1 Year Membership to Elf Island, and get a code for 1 Month free, will my membership be extended if I use the code now?”

It depends on the code you are using. Some codes are for new users who have never logged into Elf Island. Others are available for all. You will see a message telling you which type of code you have when you use it. If it is a code for everyone, it will be added as 1 extra month to your 1 Year Membership.

Water asks, “How can I get tickets? Are tickets members only?”

Tickets are indeed, a member only feature. Members may earn tickets by placing in one of the Awards categories. The Awards categories are

Quest Conqueror – The players with the top performance in the GoodQuest that week

Risky Business – The 5 players who have traded the most on the island that week

Good Egg – The 5 players who have gifted the most on the island that week

Cozy Crib – The 5 players with the highest home hospitality points that week

Child’s Play – Top 5 players in mini-games for that week

Island Ikon – The 5 best overall players in all categories for that week

The number of tickets an elf earns is based on which place an elf comes in for each award. For example, if you win the Child’s Play award and come in third place, you will receive 5 tickets. Tickets are stored in your “My Stuff”. Tickets can be saved from week to week. However, tickets may not be traded or gifted to another elf. Tickets are given out on Wednesday.

1st Place = 10 Tickets

2nd Place =  8 Tickets

3rd Place =   5 Tickets

4th Place =   3 Tickets

5th Place =    1 Ticket

To redeem a prize, visit Mushroom Alley and click on the picture frame showing the item you would like to have.  Prizes will change in Mushroom Alley every few weeks.

Superman_Return asks, “How do I send a gift?”

Step 1 – Click on a player’s profile.
