Oily Sea Turtles

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Imagine this: There you are, swimming along, and oil blocks your home. Your home is covered in oil.  What would you do? How would you live?  How would you like it?

The life of a sea turtle is not easy.  They have many predators like crabs and sharks, and already are endangered.  Now adding a new predator, the oil, makes sea turtle’s lives almost impossible.

We have 1 day left in the Goodquest.  Whether we reach the goal or not, let’s try our best to save the Sea Turtles from injuries and death.  Think of the turtles.

Lets save the turtles, and not keep them looking like this.

Cub Reporter: Earth Day!

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Beautiful FlowerFor Earth Day, my class is planting five fruit trees at our school! Everyone is pitching in and they’re not afraid to get their hands dirty! Last year, the trees they planted were either run over by lawn mowers or eaten by forest creatures. We’re also working on a school garden. We have two gardens, one is the Primes Garden, and one is the Junior Garden. The Junior Garden is a wreck so for community service, we are all planting flowers, trimming bushes, pulling weeds, and throwing out rocks! Go Earth Day!!!

Cub Reporter: 40th Anniversary of Earth Day!

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

happy_globeEarth Day is one of the most important holidays. It is focused on the most important factor of all to our living- protecting the environment, as Xeko has done multiple times with GoodQuests. Here are some fun facts on Earth Day.

Earth Day was started April 22, 1970 by Gaylord Nelson, a Wisconsin Senator

Earth Day is the largest non-religious holiday celebrated on the planet

500,000,000 people celebrate Earth Day- but that’s still only 7% of the world

By the end of 2010’s Earth Day, 184 countries will have celebrated it all over the world!

Earth day has been celebrated for 40 years! W00t for the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day!

Cub Reporter: A Good Party!

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Bday Party RoomXeko is all about doing good. Players came together during GoodQuest to help save animals, people, and the Earth. But that’s not all! Elves had put together rooms in their houses for other people.

February 23rd is my birthday. On that day, some players gifted me items as presents. But there was one thing that really blew me away. Little_Nessa put together a fabulous birthday room in her house for me. All of my friends were there, too. The room was so brilliant! It had a large disco floor, and five disco balls around a “happy birthday” banner. There was cake, chocolates, cookies, jellybeans, and about a dozen cupcakes. In the front of the room, there were so many present boxes. In front of many colorful garlands was a black computer screen. On the screen, spelled out in Georgia peaches, was my name. The back-ground for this was an outer-space mural. There was even a karaoke machine! The room was incredibly snazzy, and I could tell that Little_Nessa has really out-done herself to prepare this room.

It was absolutely a birthday room to remember. What made it even more special was that all my friends on Xeko were there.

The First Generation…..

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

The first generation of players has now learned the secret of Xeko! Of course, we all wonder what the secret is, but they have been told to keep their lips sealed. Over this past year or two, elves have been challenged to unlock the secret of Elf Island (Xeko)! Now, they now know the secret that is SO powerful that it could change the world! They have all worked together to unlock the secret, helping animals, people, and the Earth. I would like to congratulate all the of the players who have worked so hard working together, helping each other, helping others, and helping the world.

With the summing up of the tenth GoodQuest, many new things happened, as there is now a Xeko Headquarters and Hall of Good. There are some cool prizes if you click the special spots in the GQ Lobby and the Party Room. You should go check it out while it is still there….

Cub Reporter: Squirrel Appreciation Day Activities

Monday, January 25th, 2010

I took close to 100 photos of squirrels today without even knowing it was Squirrel Appreciation Day! Imagine MY surprise when I read the EI blog entry at the end of the day!

I have been observing behavior patterns of at least 5, occasionally 6 although I don’t have the 6th one named, Eastern Gray Squirrels (Sciurus carolinensis) for the past few weeks, and today the photo ops were endless. I got several pictures of squirrels together and even one of squirrels sharing their rooftop dinner table (where I toss seeds and nuts) with a couple sparrows [songbirds]!

Cub Reporter: Haiti Relief Store Sold Out

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Hello Xeko! Recently I went to the Haiti Relief store to purchase another care package and they were all gone! Which I thought was great that all those players cared so much to purchase all the care packages. Everywhere I look I see colorful Haiti badges. I know at my school we will be doing a fundraiser for Haiti and will discuss it in class tomorrow. You should definitely check the blog to see other ways you can help in your neighborhood, school, or even your own house! I’m sure the people who received the packages in Haiti will greatly appreciate them. Keep Gaming for Good Xeko!

Cub Reporter: I Have a Dream

Monday, January 18th, 2010

I Have A Dream

I have a dream that blue elves roam the island
They do good in the world, inspiration to guide them.
Elves build homes, save sharks, plant trees
Goodness as far as the eye can see.
Helping endangered animals as well
Good is all over the island, you can tell.
Happy MLK Day everyone! Keep up all the good!
