Friday, November 28th, 2008

First off, we’d like to thank everyone that participated in our Thanksgiving room decorating contest. We had TONS of great entries and it was very difficult to narrow it down to just 10 winners. After carefully examining each room, we finally made our decisions. And the winners are…

1. Starwarzkid

2. Cooledcoyote

3. Red_Rain

4. Ace_Flyboy

5. RainPearl

6. Silvergirl

7. Gigicool

8. DreamTulip

9. Goofer

10. OhGee

Each of these 10 winners will get a prize of coins (2,000 for first place, 1,800 for second, 1,600 for third, etc…) and an exclusive Turkey Balloon! Thanks again for everyone who participated in Elf Island’s first ever event. We look forward to many, many more in the future!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

This Friday marks the official opening for Elf Island’s free public beta! Come and join the fun for free by chatting with friends, playing games and exploring our exciting world full of possibilities.

It’s been a long and exciting road for our native elves. They’ve been working overtime preparing, fixing and building many of the fun features some of you’ve already experienced in our closed Elf Island beta.

The native elves are placing the finishing touches on our first GoodQuest – house building! Expect to see this GoodQuest and more fun features integrated into Elf Island as more and more Islanders join us. Timing for these features will be announced in the game and on our blog.

Here are just a few of the features you can expect to see from us soon:

- Our first GoodQuest: House building!

- More micro games

- More animated items to purchase

- More elf outfit selections

- Full access to the Field Guide

- Improved chat options and elf mobility

- Buying, trading or gifting items with other elves

- Achievement and status

- Our weekly multimedia newsletter – The Tide

- Tribes – Coming soon!

For you newcomer elves and for those who are our regular islanders, spread the word that we’re opening our Island for free to everyone on Friday! We look forward to playing with you!

Elf Island is increasing our hours of operation beginning Friday!

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Due to the overwhelming demand, starting this Friday, Elf Island will open the Island at 10:00 am ET and close at 1:00 am ET. By increasing our hours, we are allowing many of you worldwide fans a chance to sample our world – enjoy!

To those who are regular elves to our Island, this time expansion will give you more time to chat with fellow elves, and to play games and explore our immersive environments. Look for ANOTHER exciting announcement to hit our blog tomorrow!

Our Beta re-cap

Monday, November 17th, 2008

We’ve received a lot of great feedback from those of you who have joined us on Elf Island during the past two weeks. Based on your emails and comments to our moderators, our island is really taking shape! We’re so happy that many of you are re-connecting with old buddies and making new friends in our world.

There are quite a few changes we’ve made since the first boat arrived to Elf Island. Here are a few areas we have enhanced and improved:

-Fixed the problem with items disappearing in the homes

-Made the avatars invisible when they enter a mini-game or a store

-Labeled the “Map”

-Chat/UI Lag  - we’ve made major strides and will continue to improve the experience

-We also addressed an issue where players were sometimes not able to see other players’ names

Over the next week, we will be addressing:
- The Field Guide (as the week progresses you will see improvements with usability)
- Chat Logs: We are adding a chat log, so that players can read the chat in the room without seeing the bubbles overlap (or we will find a way to keep bubbles from overlapping)

- Mini-game widget: It will be easy to find, so exiting a game will be  intuitive

– Fix layering issues with goods and the “edit home” button, so that an elf cannot walk through them

- Alphabetize the friend’s list

In terms of features, this week you should expect to see:
- The pie shooter micro-game
- New items/goods
- Improved Elf mobility
- Improved customization process

Islanders – stay close to our blog, we are planning to share an exciting development over the next few days!
